2022 in Review

By Dr. Christopher Parker and Gary Ho

As 2022 comes to a close, we want to take some time to reflect on the past year and how the Gout Support Group of America has grown.

First and foremost, we officially launched the Gout Support Group of America as a nonprofit in May, just in time for Gout Awareness Day. The launch included the unveiling of goutsupportgroup.org and a brief introduction video.

Additionally, this year we:

  • Launched a series of educational videos
  • Provided actionable monthly advice on our blog
  • Connected in a big way with our online community through Facebook Live
  • Participated in our first in-person conference at the American College of Rheumatology

As we move into the new year, we want to take a moment to recognize and thank the over 14,500 members of the Gout Support Group of America Facebook group. This online community is a safe, welcoming place where gout patients can share their journey, seek advice and meet others living with the disease.

We can’t wait to see all we accomplish next year as we work to improve the lives of people with gout through wellness education, empowerment, and community. Until then, happy holidays!
