Gout Awareness Day

Gout Awareness Day is Friday, May 22.
This year, we're moving forward.

Way too many spend years thinking flares a few times a year is 'just gout' It's not.  And this is the day we say so out loud.

What Gout Awareness Day is (and why it matters to us)

Gout Awareness Day is May 22 every year. One day where the whole community gets a little louder about the disease most of us spend way too long being quiet about.

So many people in the gout community spend years flaring a few times a year and figure that is just how gout works. But we are trying to get the word out, it doesn't have to be that way!

May 22nd gives us a small soap box so we can try and reach the people in the back,

Gout is treatable. Uric acid has a target. And the stereotype that's kept this community embarrassed for generations is costing real people real years.

This year, we're calling our initiative Forward From Here
Because sometimes you just need somebody to walk you through what's next.

Wherever you are in your gout story, today's a good day to take the next step.

Wherever you are in your gout story, today's a good day to take the next step.

A few flares a year isn't normal.

I'm ready to move forward

Your face on a post might be the thing somebody else needed to see

Somebody out there is sitting where you've sat. Learning about gout, in pain, thinking they're alone, sure that gout looks like the cartoon king and not them.

Grab the Canva graphic, add your photo, and post it on May 22.
The bigger the crowd, the harder it is for the stereotype to keep doing damage.

Tag @goutsupportgroup so we don't miss you, we'll be reposting all day.

Read it. Share it.
Both help.

Every share matters. Every blog post forwarded to a friend who's still flaring, every quote card reposted on a feed where somebody scrolls past it at exactly the right moment, that's how the information gets to the people that need it. One person at a time.

Here's everything we've put out for Forward From Here.
Take what speaks to you, share what fits your people, and tag us so we can cheer you on.

If you've ever wondered whether your gout is actually as managed as it feels, the Roadmap is the place to start.

It meets you wherever you are right now, and walks you to what's next.

01  -  I just had my first flare, (I think)  →

02  -  I need help getting a diagnosis  →

03  -  I'm diagnosed but still flaring  →

04  -  My flares are rare, is that enough? →

05  -  I made it through, I want to help →

Gout Awareness Day is one day. The work is every day.

If something from this page landed for you, (a sentence, a face, a number, an elevator story you weren't expecting to recognize) we're glad you found it.

Stay with us beyond May 22. The Gout Roadmap doesn't close on the 23rd. The community doesn't close on the 23rd. The work doesn't close on the 23rd. None of this is just for today.

Real talk gout updates, patient stories, new resources, and a heads up whenever the next initiative kicks off.
